Freelance producer, recording & mixing engineer. Ambient / post-rock musician. Twenty-five years making records.
Alongside his studio work, Keith has released electronic, ambient, and post-rock music for over twenty years.
As a producer and engineer, I am equally at home in the analog and digital worlds. I love experimenting with microphones and effects, to create a unique recorded world. But I also love live performance, and enjoy the “old school” process of a band tracking live in the studio and capturing that energy. To that end, I’ve worked with talented artists like indie rockers Golomb, Americana songwriter Lydia Loveless, the late Ed Askew (a psych-folk legend), ambient improvisors Autophonia and rock & soul band Doc Robinson.
After a decade recording at Musicol Recording Studios in Columbus, Ohio, I opened Secret Studio, a multi-purpose arts space in the Franklinton Arts District of Columbus. Featuring a recording studio, art gallery and events space, Secret Studio’s aim is to allow artists of all types to connect, share and create.
Music and recording have been a huge part of my life. I have been tinkering with tape decks since I was a kid; recording my brother’s sax onto my portable cassette deck, recording my friends on my dad’s RCA reel-to-reel tape deck, or overdubbing with two cassette decksto record my high school band (I couldn’t afford a 4-track machine). A drum set came into my life at a young age, thanks to my brother. I learned Kiss and Led Zeppelin songs and eventually formed a band at the age of 14. I’ve been playing music ever since.
I studied audio production at Ohio University, and interned at the famous Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN. Upon graduation I dived into a variety of music projects. I toured the US and Canada with The Black Swans and Parker Paul. Simultaneously, I began making naive electronic music, at first recording under the name Zapruder Red until switching over to my given name full time to concentrate on ambient music. As of 2026, I have released seven albums on my own imprint, Scioto Records.
